Lunch and Learn | Innovating with AI- Balancing Risk and Reward | Special Session Presented by CAIC
Thursday December 5, 2024 12:00pm - 2:00pm EST
The recent introduction of large language models (LLMs) that are trained on vast libraries of verbal (text) inputs opens up AI systems to broad, general applications beyond just pattern recognition. In the process though, the risks associated with the systems are more varied in type and less straightforward to evaluate. The framework presented in this workshop is intended to address identifying and assessing the risks in these new AI systems. Once identified and assessed, such risks can be corrected or mitigated (or simply accepted).

Our framework employs a risk taxonomy that can be used to classify risks according to the nature of their impact (the risk category) as well as the nature of the risk (systematic, random, or purposefully triggered). Once identified, risks can be assessed for likelihood and impact. The attributes of Likelihood, Impact, and Nature define the structure of the “LIN” model.
